I guess i’m writing this post because of the passion i have for the virtual assistance industry and i believe there’s someone out there who may be looking for an opportunity to start doing business online from the comfort of his/her home.
I have been a virtual assistant since 2004 and have achieved a lot. I was in actual fact in business before i got wind that my kind of business was actually what was trending in the outsourcing industry.
But who is a Virtual Assistant (VA)? A virtual assistant is someone who provides administrative support services to a client from a remote location. This means you do not need to meet your client physically. I have worked for my major client for 11 years without seeing him physically. He resides in the United States, and I, his virtual assistant in Ghana. How cool is that?
The services VA’s provides varies from each individual according to their area of expertise. Most of the services VA’s provides are but not limited to;
Desktop publishing (creating brochures or newsletters)
Phone Answering (client directing his number to your phone number)
Creating and Maintaining databases
Send and/or receive faxes
Prepare mailings (including marketing materials, holiday cards, thank you notes, etc.)
Write and send follow-up letters
Maintain business Web site
Make online purchases
Transcribe voicemail messages
Prepare job ads and post them online
Schedule interviews and other appointments
it is important that you know your field of expertise and who you want to work for. Example, when i was working with my first client, my schedule was to provide customer support services to agents in over 55 countries using a web portal to create calling PINS. I managed that with ease because of my expertise in customer relations. Aside that my other expertise is Online Researching. I also sub let some contracts like webdesign to other VA’s and we all work in a team
